Donald McNeil, M.D., is an allergist, immunologist and internal medicine specialist with over twenty years of clinical research experience in phase one through four research studies. In addition to two sub-investigators, Dr. McNeil’s staff includes three registered nurses and a nurse practitioner who have a combined total of over 50 years of nursing experience and over 20 years of clinical research experience. Research Director Margie Haley, RN, BSN, CCRC, is a certified clinical research coordinator. Elden Apling, MD is a board-certified internal medicine specialist and Philip Rancitelli, MD is board-certified in the areas of pediatrics, allergy and immunology.

Optimed Research’s amenities include centrifuges for lab processing, a -20 C freezer, and secured investigational product storage. In addition to an extensive nursing knowledge base, all research coordinators are IATA certified and continuing education is provided for staff members; this facility is also compliant with GCP Guidelines. Lab testing available on the premises includes spirometry, electrocardiogram and nitrous oxide measurement; all equipment is calibrated biannually. All study coordinators have access to a resource library and an individual computer. Monitors will have access to a dedicated area equipped with wireless internet, telephone, and a fax and copy machine.

Optimed Research is continuously enrolling for new studies. Although asthma and diabetes comprise a large percentage of the clinical research studies completed at Optimed Research, studies are also in progress or have been completed for the following diagnoses: COPD, hereditary angoiedema, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sinusitis, arthritis and chronic back pain, pneumonia, allergic rhinitis and primary immunodeficiency. Because we are not under the jurisdiction of a local IRB or Ethics Committee, Optimed Research, with permission from the PI, is able to use a study’s central IRB. Optimed Research ensures rapid turn around times for finalization of budget contracts and study start up.

Optimed Research is conveniently located on the north end of Columbus, Ohio and is easily accessed from routes 270 and 23. A large variety of accommodations and major shopping areas, including many restaurants and entertainment venues, are situated within minutes of Optimed Research.
