Donald L. McNeil, M.D.Don McNeil, Clinical Researcher

Dr. McNeil is president, founder, and principal investigator at Optimed Research, and has over 20 years of research experience. Certified as a clinical investigator since June, 2005, Dr. McNeil has conducted research studies in the following areas: Pneumonia, sinusitis, bronchitis, CVID, allergic rhinitis, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, osteoarthritis pain, hereditary angioedema, diabetes, and asthma.

Dr. McNeil’s private practice is located at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Associates in Worthington, Ohio. Dr. McNeil is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at The Ohio State University and does Allergy Training for the OSU ENT Residency Program. In addition to being on the medical teaching staff of Mt. Carmel, Doctors and Riverside Methodist Hospitals, Dr. McNeil is also on the consulting staff of Grant Hospital in Columbus and Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. A member of the American College of Physicians, Dr. McNeil is board certified in allergy, immunology and internal medicine. He has published numerous articles related to asthma, allergy and immunology.

Ann Urbank, Clinical Research sub-investigator, Columbus OH

Ann Urbank, MS, CNP

As a sub-investigator for Optimed Research, Certified Nurse Practitioner Ann Urbank completes histories and physicals, reviews labs and diagnostics and is actively involved in patient recruitment. Past clinical experiences include pediatrics, home health, primary care and employee health. Ann received her diploma in nursing from St Thomas Hospital in Akron; her BSN from Capital University; and MS, CNP from The Ohio State University in 2003. Ann lives in Delaware County with her husband and Jack, their chocolate lab and enjoys playing golf.

Dr. Rancitelli

Philip Neil Rancitelli, M.D.

Dr. Rancitelli serves as a Sub-Investigator at Optimed Research. Dr. Rancitelli’s private practice is located at Midwest Allergy and Asthma Associates, Inc in Worthington, Ohio. While completing Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Training at The Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Rancitelli participated in research at the Duke University Department of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Rancitelli is currently a member of the medical teaching staff at Ohio State University, Columbus Children's Hospital, and Select Specialty Hospitals. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Born in Richland, Washington, Dr. Rancitelli now lives in Columbus with his wife and family and considers himself an Ohio native.

Margie Haley

Margie Haley, RN, BSN, CCRC

As Administrative Director, Margie is responsible for the daily operation of Optimed Research. An Ohio native, she received her BSN from Otterbein College. Margie has coordinated Phase I-IV Clinical Research Studies and has managed research operations in academic and private practice. She is married and has 2 grown daughters.

Shawn Beuerlein

Shawn Beuerlein, RN, BA, ADN, CCRC

Shawn is a Research Nurse Coordinator for Optimed Research. She received a BA in Psychology from The Ohio State University, an ADN from Marion Technical College and earned her CCRC in September of 2007. She has had a varied nursing career, but has found her niche with research, which she has been doing for more than 4 years. She is married with 2 children and an avid Buckeye fan -- GO BUCKS!
Sonia Alcott

Sonia Alcott, RN, BSN

Originally from California, Sonia has been living in Ohio for ten years, she received her RN from Santa Barbara City College, and her BSN from The University of Phoenix. She currently lives with one cat, two dogs and an occasional litter of foster kittens. Sonia is The Infusion Nurse Manager and also works as a research coordinator.

Michelle Chao

Michelle Chao, BS

Michelle is a Research Coordinator for Optimed Research. She received a BS in biology from Denison University and pursued a career as a chemist, but found that clinical research is her true passion. In her free time she enjoys kayaking on Hoover, reading culinary murder mysteries, and cooking various ethnic cuisines.

Nikki Palacek

Nikki Palecek, BS

Nikki is a regulatory coordinator for Optimed Research. She received her BS in Animal Science from The Ohio State University, but decided to follow a career in human healthcare after graduation.

She and her husband recently purchased their first house and enjoy spending time together with their three very cute dogs and their horse.
